What is VoIP?
Voice over IP or VOIP as it is most commonly known allows users to make phone calls over the internet. The technology converts analogue voice signals into digital information, which then allows conversations to take place over the internet anywhere in the world.
How will VoIP benefit my business?
There are many benefits to having VoIP telephony in your business and we will discuss these in more detail below:
Financial benefits of VoIP
As the communication system is in the cloud this minimises the costs of any associated infrastructure. If a new employee joins or you need to move to a different office or even expand all costs will be lower with a cloud system.
Where possible businesses want to scale back on costs without compromising on service, this is a massive benefit of VoIP. There is a reduction in call costs and line rental and Rainbow IT Services also offer a rental option on the hardware.
You will not be paying expensive premiums to maintain outdated hardware, instead a deal with Rainbow IT Services you can upgrade your phones on a frequent basis.
Flexibility
Having the option to add more numbers or change extensions allows greater flexibility you are not just stuck with the one line.
As you can access your data remotely this gives greater flexibility for your workforce. For example someone can be working from home but to the customer nothing will seem any different, or if you have a business with different locations or where staff are working in a warehouse they can use a wireless phone to connect to the data communication system.
Multifunctional
You can not only use the VoIP system for standard calls, you can also use the calls for videoconferencing and calls from abroad.
Rainbow IT Services are a proud supplier of Yealink phones and the Yealink CP920 conference phone is a firm favourite for our business clients who regularly conduct conference calls.
As long as you have an internet connection you are able to use your office phone anywhere in the world from a recognised app downloadable on both Apple and Android.
BT will switch off ISDN/PSTN by 2025
Did you know that by 2025 BT will be switching off the ISDN network, which will mean that all businesses will be forced to use an IP based system for all their telephony needs. BT have also announced that they will be switching off all voice networks on their PSTN lines (phone lines into houses), and all new houses will come with FTTH only (Fibre to the house).
Why not secure a good deal today and beat the rush when everyone is forced to switch?
Look out for future blog posts where we will explore this subject further.
